Kota weather in November is about as easy as the city’s climate gets. The monsoon is long gone, the October warmth fades week by week, and the air is dry and clear. Afternoons are warm rather than hot, nights turn cool, and rain is so rare that you can plan outdoor days without a backup. This guide uses the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) 1991-2020 normals for Kota Airport to show what a normal November looks like, how it changes through the month, and what that means for clothes, travel and daily routines.

The figures below are long-term averages, not a forecast. For the next few days, use the live panel on this page or the official IMD forecast described in our Kota weather forecast guide.

The key number is the drop between months. The average afternoon falls by about 4.5 C from October to November and again from November to December, and nights fall even faster. November is the hinge between the warm post-monsoon season and winter.

How November changes from start to finish

A monthly average hides the trend inside the month. In Kota, November behaves like three different weeks:

  • First week: still warm. Afternoons can feel like October, and fans stay on indoors. Nights are mild.
  • Middle of the month: the most balanced stretch. Warm, sunny afternoons and cool, fresh evenings that are perfect for walking.
  • Last week: the first taste of winter. Mornings feel crisp, and you may want a sweater on an early drive or a late scooter ride.

That pattern matters if you are packing for a specific week. Someone arriving on 1 November needs less warm clothing than someone arriving on 25 November.

Rain in November

November is one of the driest months of the year in Kota. The normal is 3.8 mm for the entire month, and the average number of rainy days is 0.4. In practice, most Novembers have no meaningful rain at all. When a shower does happen, it usually comes from a passing western disturbance or a late weather system from the Bay of Bengal or Arabian Sea, and it rarely lasts long.

For travellers, that means no umbrella, no monsoon footwear, and no need to keep indoor alternatives for every outdoor plan. For residents, it is the start of the long dry season that runs to the following June. Our Kota rainfall guide shows how the year’s rain is concentrated in the monsoon months.

Air quality: the November catch

Clear, calm and cooling weather has one downside. On still mornings and evenings, smoke and dust stay close to the ground instead of mixing upwards, and air quality in many north and central Indian cities, Kota included, can worsen as winter approaches. Festival fireworks around Diwali can add to the haze for a few days.

If you have asthma or another breathing condition, check the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) Air Quality Index before early walks, and prefer exercise later in the morning when the air has mixed. Our Kota air quality guide explains how to read the index and where Kota’s monitoring stations are.

What to wear in Kota in November

  • Daytime: cotton shirts, kurtas, T-shirts and light trousers. The sun is still strong, so a cap and sunglasses help.
  • Evening: a light jacket, cardigan or shawl, especially after mid-month.
  • Late November mornings: a warmer layer if you will be out before sunrise or riding a two-wheeler.
  • Skin care: the air is dry, so lip balm and moisturiser are worth packing.

Planning a November visit

November suits almost everything Kota offers. The Garh palace and museum, the riverfront, Kishore Sagar and the old city temples are comfortable at any hour, and evenings by the water are especially pleasant. The Chambal gorge viewpoints such as Garadia Mahadev are best in the softer light of early morning or late afternoon. The Kota Dussehra Mela runs into early November in 2026; our Dussehra Mela 2026 weather page covers those evenings.

A few practical points:

  • Start early, finish late. Even in November, the hours around 1 pm to 3 pm are the warmest. Use them for indoor sights or a long lunch.
  • Book ahead for festival weeks. Diwali and wedding dates bring extra travel, so trains and hotels can fill up. The weather itself is rarely the problem.
  • Watch for winter fog later, not now. Dense fog delays on trains through north India usually start in late December, not November. See our Kota travel weather guide.

November for residents and students

For people living in Kota, November is the month to get ready for winter. Hostel rooms with stone or concrete floors start to feel cold at night by the end of the month, so a blanket and warm socks are useful before December arrives. Coolers can be cleaned and stored. It is also a good month for outdoor exercise, as long as you keep an eye on the air quality on still mornings. Our Kota weather for students guide looks at the whole coaching year season by season.

November in IMD’s station tables

IMD’s Climatological Tables 1991-2020 for Kota Airport add detail to the temperature picture:

  • Rain. 3.8 mm on average, with 0.4 rainy days of 2.5 mm or more and no thunder days.
  • Sky. About 21 cloudless mornings and 18 cloudless evenings; mean cloud cover is just over 1 okta.
  • Wind. The mean wind speed falls to 3.0 km/h, and the morning observation is calm on 56 percent of days.
  • Visibility. Morning visibility is 1 to 4 km on about 22 days, a sign of haze building as the air calms.
  • Coldest night. The mean of the lowest minimum in November is 13.2 C.

Compare with Kota weather in October for the month before. November is also the start of the main wedding season; see Kota wedding season weather.

Normals versus the forecast

A normal is a 30-year average. A given November can run a couple of degrees warmer or cooler, and a rare unseasonal shower is always possible. Use this page to decide what to pack and which part of the day to use for what, and then check the live panel above and the IMD forecast in the final week before your plans. For warnings of any kind, see Kota weather warnings.
